In September 2024, Bikers for Humanity hurried to support families hit hard by the floods in Galați and Constanța counties. In places like Amzacea and other communities in Galați, the flooding left many without homes and resources, unsure of how to move forward. What started as a simple call for help quickly turned into a full-scale effort, thanks to our volunteers and the overwhelming response from the community.
The first steps: Rallying donationsThe first steps: Rallying donations
When we put out the call for help, the response was nothing short of incredible. People from all over the country stepped up, donating blankets, pillows, clothes, shoes, hygiene products, and school supplies.
Rock FM became our main hub for collecting donations. Together with the amazing teams from Rock FM, Kiss FM, and Magic FM, our volunteers worked tirelessly to load everything into vans, making sure the aid would reach those who needed it most.
Saturday’s effort: Sorting donations
On Saturday, September 21st, our volunteers gathered at our base in Mogoșoaia to sort through the mountain of donations. From clothes and blankets to hygiene products, everything was carefully organized to ensure that every affected family received exactly what they needed.
A highlight of the day was having Liana Stanciu, the beloved voice of Romanian radio, join us. She pitched in with a smile, helping carry bags of blankets and pillows, showing the true spirit of community and solidarity.
The mission: Solidarity on two wheels in Galați and Constanța
Early Sunday morning, September 22nd, most of our volunteers were up at the crack of dawn, ready for a long day ahead. Whether on motorcycles, in vans, or personal cars packed with your donations, we hit the road, covering hundreds of kilometers to reach families in need.
Our first stop was at a warehouse in Slobozia Conachi, Galați County, where we unloaded bags of essential supplies. These were handed over to the Inima de Copil Foundation, who ensured that the donations were distributed fairly.
From there, we headed to the village of Cudalbi, where our volunteers, alongside authorities, got to work clearing mud and debris from the home of a family that had been severely affected by the floods. But the day didn’t end there—some of us went back to the Bikers for Humanity base to reload the vans, gearing up for the next day’s mission to Amzacea in Constanța.
Wrapping it up: Delivering the final donations
By Tuesday, September 24th, we were on our way to Amzacea, delivering the last of the donations. Thanks to your generosity and the tireless dedication of our volunteers, every family impacted by the floods received the blankets, clothes, and essentials they needed to help them through this tough time.
A heartfelt thanks
None of this would’ve been possible without the incredible support from you—our community. Every donation, no matter how small, made a massive difference in the lives of these families. Together, we managed to provide the help they desperately needed, showing once again how kindness and solidarity can truly change lives.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting us.
Together we are Bikers for Humanity!
